The origins of our Darjeeling Earl Grey black tea
A milder, fruitier take on the traditional blend of Earl Grey tea, our finest Darjeeling Earl Grey is light, fragrant and citrusy, making it a wonderfully refreshing brew for mid-morning or afternoon. Whatever time of day you serve it, this luxury loose-leaf tea can be enjoyed black, with lemon or a dash of milk.
Made from a blend of premium Indian black tea and zesty citrus bergamot from the West Bengal foothills of the Himalayas, our Darjeeling Earl Grey combines a delicate richness with a citrus zing. A beautiful mix of rolled dark leaves with snowy buds, pieces of bergamot fruit and vivid green leaves, it's a wonderfully aromatic and flavoursome Earl Grey.
For our characterful interpretation of this classic tea, we have delicately infused carefully selected Darjeeling leaves with 100% pure essential bergamot oil from the coastal region of Calabria, Southern Italy. Dried bergamot fruit pieces – also from Calabria – are then added to the blend, adding a luxurious scent and flavour. The light-amber coloured infusion yields an aroma of balanced citrus and floral notes. At the same time, its mouthfeel is gently tangy and floral with the distinctive muscatel notes Darjeeling is famed for.

Darjeeling black teas are known as the 'Champagne of teas'. Usually made from the Chinese Camellia Sinensis variety of the tea plant, they impart a thin-bodied and light-coloured brew with distinctive muscatel notes and a floral aroma. Part of the beauty of this Earl Grey blend is its stunning mix of mossy green and dark brown Darjeeling leaves, harvested in spring yet reminiscent of a forest floor in autumn.
The health benefits of Earl Grey tea
Black teas such as Darjeeling are known to be packed with antioxidants that may help ward off infection and disease. Thanks to the addition of bergamot essential oil, our Darjeeling Earl grey has additional health benefits: studies have shown that bergamot may aid digestion, inhibit inflammation in the gut and help fight bacteria associated with stomach ulcers and other gastrointestinal disorders.
