The origins of our 2021 Upper Namring Darjeeling First Flush
This sweet, floral first flush loose leaf tea is from Upper Namring tea estate, one of the oldest tea gardens in Darjeeling. Made from long, rolled leaves with an abundance of delicately rolled silvery buds and scatterings of vibrant green leaves, it's a single-origin Indian tea offering a beautiful floral aroma that echoes its floral and tropical fruit characters.
This tea is among the most sought-after first picks of the season from the early 2021 spring harvest of the revered Upper Namring estate. With a golden yellow infusion more like a white tea, this micro-batch beauty is nevertheless one of the best Indian black teas from the famed Darjeeling district, located in the Himalayan foothills of West Bengal.
Upper Namring 2021 Darjeeling First Flush starts with floral characters, soon developing into sweet tropical mango and papaya, underpinned by the distinctive muscatel notes associated with Darjeeling tea bushes. To enable you to enjoy all the wonderful, subtle flavour components of this light-bodied first flush tea, we do not recommend you add milk – although a little lemon and a drop of honey may enhance its flavour if you like. However you take it, it's packed with antioxidants and contains close to zero calories, making it the perfect tea to give you a lift mid-morning or in the afternoon.
