The origins of our Aged Pu-erh Chinese tea
Naturally aged for 3 decades, this sophisticated Chinese tea is something special. Produced in the Yunnan province of China from the harvest of tea leaves in 1990, our premium Pu-erh is strongly earthy in nature, with spicy undertones and an exceptionally smooth character that has developed over its three decades of maturation.
Unlike many Pu-erh teas, our luxury 30 Year Aged Pu-erh has not been compressed into a shape but is a loose-leaf tea. Those dried leaves – some deep brown, some forest green, others deep orange – offer mysterious musky aromas with notes of wet woodland, brewing to a deep amber-coloured infusion with mellow, earth-like characters and a cacao-sweet finish.
This tea belongs to the 'Ripened' category of Pu-erh, also known as 'Shu', in which leaves are dampened and piled on top of each other in a process called wet piling, which triggers fermentation. While traditionalists wouldn't dream of adding milk to such a beautiful brew, we say if you feel it enhances the flavour, then go ahead and add a dash!
