The origins of Okayti Tea Estate

The stunning black teas produced by the Okayti tea estate are renowned for their delicate flavours of sweet Muscat grapes and spring flowers whilst having brisk and aromatic aromas.

Our single estate spring first flush offers an enchanting aroma, with mild notes of Carnations and fresh vegetal notes, imparting a floral flavour with autumnal aftertaste. The finely twisted forest green leaves with ample silver tips have a floral aroma with notes resembling lily.

This stunning tea is made from tea leaves plucked after midnight under a clear full moon evening and processed before the break of dawn. Meticulously prepared this tea imparts mild notes of carnations with a delicious autumnal aftertaste. The leaves are delicately rolled before producing a beautiful bright orange liquor, a true delight for the senses.

Tea pairings and experience

To bring the experience of the tea garden directly to your cup this tea is best enjoyed without milk and sugar as the tea itself has such sweet floral notes. The flavour of the tea changes as the liquor cools down, taking you on a the journey of mild astringency and floral elements followed by a lingering delicate sweetness that can be found from the succulent leaves.

Although this tea is stunning when enjoyed alone, it is also beautiful when paired with sweet and savour foods. The light mellow notes of this darjeeling compliment dishes of smoked salmon and light creamy cheeses, as well as delicate pastries, lemon shortbread, macaroons and carrot cake.
