Loose Leaf Rooibos Tea
Rooibos is a naturally caffeine-free herbal tea that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. The fragrant and full-bodied bright-red infusion of Rooibos makes a great evening drink that can be enjoyed before bed time. Unlike black, green, white, oolong and Pu erh tea, Rooibos or Red Bush tea - as it is also known - is not made from the Camellia Sinensis tea plant. Rooibos is a bush plant that grows exclusively in the Western Cape of South Africa - mainly in the small mountainous Cederberg area.
To make the distinctive red Rooibos tea, the needle-like leaves are plucked from the Rooibos bush and oxidised to enhance the deep red colour and distinctive flavour profile. The leaves are green when picked and turn red during the time in which they are left to naturally dry and oxidise in the sunlight.
