Handcrafted using traditional pan firing, this refined Dragon Well green tea produces a bright, elegant infusion and stands as a benchmark of authentic Long Jing tea and a leading example of premium green tea.

What Is Dragon Well Tea?

Dragon Well tea, known as Long Jing in China, is a classic green tea prized for its distinctive flat‑pressed leaves, fresh spring character and gently roasted chestnut aroma. Unlike steamed green teas, Dragon Well is pan‑fried in a wok, which creates its signature nutty sweetness and smooth, rounded texture. Produced only in designated areas of Zhejiang Province, true Long Jing green tea is protected by origin and craftsmanship, making it one of the world’s most respected and sought‑after Chinese green tea.

How to Brew Organic Dragon Well Tea

You can discover our in-depth herbal tea brewing guide to learn how to brew the perfect cup. Use these quick steps for an ideal infusion:

  • 1 to 1 ½ teaspoons (2–3g) per cup 200ml of fresh filtered water

  • 200ml of fresh filtered water at 80°C

  • Steep for 2 to 3 minutes

Dragon Well green tea is ideally brewed in a glass, porcelain Gaiwan or traditional Yixing clay teapot to fully appreciate the leaf and infusion.

Why Choose This Organic Dragon Well Tea

  • Certified organic Dragon Well green tea

  • Sourced from the protected West Lake region of China

  • Traditional artisan processing for authentic flavour

  • Naturally low bitterness with a smooth, sweet profile

  • A refined alternative to stronger green teas

Production and Leaf Craftsmanship

Only the youngest spring buds are selected for this Organic Dragon Well tea. After harvesting, the leaves are gently pressed and panfried by skilled tea makers to halt oxidation and shape the iconic flat leaf.

Health Benefits

Green tea has long been enjoyed as part of traditional Chinese culture and daily rituals. Dragon Well green tea is naturally rich in catechins and amino acids and is often chosen by tea drinkers seeking balance, clarity and gentle stimulation. The composition of fine green tea has been widely studied, including in concentrated forms such as green tea extract, which highlights the presence of naturally occurring catechins and amino acids within the leaf.

As with all fine teas, Organic Dragon Well is best appreciated as part of a mindful lifestyle rather than for any specific health outcome.

Region

Zhejiang, China

In Eastern China, Zhejiang Province is defined by the picturesque West Lake in Hangzhou, surrounded by mountains that enrich the lake with runoff, creating a fertile environment for tea cultivation. This region enjoys a humid subtropical climate with strong seasonality, influencing the famous Long Jing or Dragon Well tea production. Summers here are short but intensely hot, with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 34°C, creating conditions that are ideal for tea bushes to flourish.

The consistent cloud cover and high humidity, ranging up to 99%, contribute to the unique quality of the tea, enhancing its flavour profile. As autumn approaches, the climate cools, reducing precipitation until winter, which sees the least rainfall and temperatures between 5°C and 8°C. Spring revives the warmth, bringing more rain, fostering lush growth around the lake, celebrated for its blooming lotuses in June. The shores boast a diverse array of plant species, including protected ones like wild soybean and short-spike bamboo, making Zhejiangabotanical haven and a UNESCO World Heritage Site noted for its garden design and rich tea heritage.
