  • Use 1 Triune teabag per cup
  • 100°C freshly boiled water
  • Steep 3 to 5 minutes
  • Enjoy black or ideally with milk

For a teapot, use one teabag per cup plus one extra for the pot.

Production and Leaf Grades

This tea incorporates two traditional production techniques. Orthodox leaf contributes fragrance, clarity and aromatic depth. CTC leaf adds strength, briskness and the classic Assam Breakfast character. The result is a balanced Triune teabag with both nuance and power

Wellbeing and Potential Benefits

As a classic black tea, Assam naturally contains polyphenol antioxidants and offers a balanced caffeine lift. Many enjoy black tea as a gentler alternative to coffee, supporting alertness, comfort and steady morning focus as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Assam Tea Origin and Craftsmanship

Assam, in north eastern India, is home to the broad leaf assamica variety of Camellia sinensis. The region’s warm temperatures, high humidity and heavy monsoon rainfall create ideal conditions for producing deep, malty black teas. The Brahmaputra river, fertile floodplains and loamy soils shape the distinctive terroir that defines Assam tea. The British established the first plantations here in the 1830s, and Assam has since become the world’s largest tea producing region, with around 800 tea estates.

Harvested at peak summer second flush, while some teas are made using the orthodox method, CTC production dominates the region and creates the strong, brisk teas often used in breakfast blends and traditional masala chai. Every lot selected for this tea is chosen for aroma, structure and consistency, then blended in small batches for dependable flavour and freshness.

Region

Assam Region, India

Assam, located in northeastern India, shares its northern boundary with the Himalayas and Bhutan, and borders Bangladesh to the south. Connected to West Bengal through the narrow Siliguri Corridor, Assam is a region marked by rich geography and abundant natural resources. The Brahmaputra River, originating in Tibet, flows across northern Assam, bringing vital runoff from the high peaks and feeding the valleys. Assam's humid subtropical climate is split between wet and dry seasons, with the wet season extending from April to October, resulting in the highest rainfall in India and often causing severe flooding.

Temperatures range from 11°C to 31°C throughout the year, with little wind. This heavy rainfall creates lush, fertile wetlands, which support a diverse ecosystem. The hillier districts, with elevations up to 600m, experience a temperate climate, providing a distinct environment for tea cultivation. The region’s forests consist of tropical evergreens, deciduous trees, bamboo, and ferns, with many wildlife sanctuaries protecting species such as tigers, leopards, and rhinos. Assam’s teas are known for their rich, malty notes, distinct from Darjeeling’s muscatel flavours.
