How to Make the Best Chai Tea Latte at Home
Chai tea lattes have boomed in popularity over recent years, quickly establishing themselves as a staple in most cafes. But a lot of cafes use concentrates and powders, which are full of sugar and artificial flavours.
But did you know you can make a Chai Tea Latte? Using an authentic Indian chai recipe, you can not only enjoy this delicious spiced treat at home, but you can connect with the roots and heritage of this beloved blend.
Ingredients
-
450 ml water
-
3 tps of Classic Karak Chai or Authentic Masala Chai (we recommend Karak Chai for those who like a strong, smooth flavour, and the Masala Chai for those who enjoy extra spice)
-
3 tps of brown or golden caster sugar
-
80ml of Evaporated milk
Instructions
-
Boil the Water:
Pour the 450 ml of water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. -
Add the Tea and Sugar:
Once boiling, add the 3 teaspoons of Classic Karak Chai or Authentic Masala Chai. Stir in the 3 teaspoons of brown or golden caster sugar. -
Simmer the Mixture:
Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 3-5 minutes to allow the flavours to infuse. -
Add Milk:
Stir in the 80 ml of evaporated milk. If you want a creamier, richer chai, you can add the additional a bit extra. Evaporated milk gives the Chai Tea Latte a rich, creamy texture, but you can use normal milk or a dairy-free milk to make it vegan. -
Heat Through:
Continue to simmer for another minute until everything is well combined and heated through. -
Strain and Serve:
Strain the chai into cups to remove the tea leaves and spices. Serve hot and enjoy!
Optional: Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon to recreate the café experience.
Enjoy your warm, authentic Chai Tea Latte!
