A blend of superlative Ceylon black tea, bergamot oil, citrus oil and marigold flowers, Mary Grey features evenly graded, rolled wiry leaves that yield a bright copper-coloured infusion and subtle, fruity flavours. Complex yet light, those flavours are perfectly complemented with refreshing notes of bergamot and other citrus oils, plus a sprinkling of vibrant yellow marigold flowers.
Thanks to its medium-high caffeine levels and refreshing flavour, Mary Grey is the perfect mid-morning or afternoon tea. (It also makes a good alternative to the more familiar Lady Grey if you're looking to add something fresh to your tea caddy). You can add a splash of milk, but Mary Grey's smooth citrus notes and mouthfeel make it an easy vegan tea – simply serve black or with a slice of lemon.

The fine blend of orthodox Ceylon Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe (FBOP) grade tea leaves in Mary Grey come from Sri Lanka's celebrated Dimbula and Nuwara Eliya regions, located in the rugged monsoonal heart of the country at elevations of between 1,400 and 2,000. High in rainfall and influenced by the Indian Ocean monsoons, these tea gardens were among the first to be planted in Sri Lanka, giving rise to an industry that today employs around 5% of the nation's population.
As for the origin of our Lady Grey tea's name – it's a nod to the wife of Prime Minister Earl Charles Grey, the reformist British prime minister from 1830 to 1834, and who the original Earl Grey tea is named for.
