The origins of our Rare Silver Tips Tea
A true original, this Rare Silver Tips loose leaf tea is made with high quality, carefully handpicked, single-origin, unopened buds that are sun-dried in the misty hills of Sri Lanka. Notable for its long and velvety silvery leaves, this incredibly rare white tea has a gently sweet flavour with pine, honey, and orchid notes. Exceptionally low in caffeine, it's an ideal special occasion tea for an afternoon or early evening drinking.
Rare Silver Tips is harvested all year round at Shannon Tea Estate, near the town of Hatton in Central Province, Sri Lanka. World-renowned as a tea-growing district, this vast area comprises extensive high-elevation ranges and beautiful valleys that are sheltered from the monsoon winds and produces the finest teas. Among its most famous estates is Shannon Tea Estate, which has built a reputation for Ceylon teas of outstanding quality and flavour complexity. This luxury tea is one such brew: light golden in colour, with an alluring fresh fruit aroma and a delicate mouthfeel.
Like other white teas, Silver Tips is harvested young and produced with minimal intervention, a process that helps to preserve all the health benefits of its natural antioxidants and essential oils. One of only a few white teas produced outside of China, it's soothing, relaxing and a delicate treat for both body and senses.

For another rare example of a white tea from outside China, see our Glenburn White Moonshine – a 2021 first-flush tea from Darjeeling packed with fresh, subtly sweet spring-like notes. Alternatively, check out our range of white teas that hail from their original home: the coastal province of Fujian in south-eastern China. Among our favourites are the outstanding White Peony, with its delightful fruity notes, and Jasmine Silver Needle from the revered Fuzhou tea-growing district. Fujian is also renowned for its green teas, and our Jasmine Dragon Pearls is a lovely floral example of the style.
