Tea Story

This tea is a combination of three of the best loved ingredients from Japan. Toasted brown rice or Genmai mixed with Sencha green tea is popularly known as Genmicha has a rich history in Japanese tea culture and continue to remain as a popular drink among the masses .  The jade green sencha offers this tea its light vegetal and umami flavour and the roasted brown rice offer a balanced warmth and toasted nutty flavour.  Including the ceremonial grade matcha powder renowned as one of the healthiest green teas with its intensely rich and creamy noted adds a new dimension to this tea. The result is a luminous green liquor thanks to the dissolved matcha powder and delightfully pleasant drink with toasted hearty noted of the rice and freshness of the sencha and sweet smooth finish of matcha.

This drink contain low levels of tannin known for causing astringency or bitterness, therefore makes this tea a smooth drink to enjoy any time of day. One of the added benefits of this drink is the inclusion of ceremonial grade matcha powder considered as one of healthiest green teas and also great source of energy. This tea gives easy access to everyone to enjoy and experience matcha otherwise may not have the time or opportunity to enjoy. Matcha contain high levels of antioxidant content. The compound L-Theanine (amino acid) helps keep the mind alert whilst calms the mind and relaxes the body. One gram of Matcha contain 68mg of caffeine and it releases the energy slowly over a period of 4-6hours without any jitters identified with other caffeine based drinks such as coffee. Matcha is also rich in vitamins such as A, C, E, B1 and B2. Matcha also boost metabolism thereby aid weight loss.

This tea could be enjoyed as a hot or iced tea. For hot tea we recommend the temperature to be around 70 °C and steep for 90sec. This tea could be steeped twice, if you do, please increase the temperature for the 2nd stepping by 5 °C and steeping time by 30 sec.

This tea comes from Ise Bay, Mie Prefecture in Japan, renown as the first region where the tea was introduced to Japan by Buddhist priest over 900 years ago. Due to the unique location and terroir, tea from this region offer a delicate pine fresh floral notes with its distinctive vegetal and umami notes.

Second best is still pretty good

The Genmaicha tea from TTMoL has been my favourite for a long time. The Match version does reduce the flavour of the regular tea that I like so much, but replaces it with a smoothness that's enjoyable in it's own way. While I prefer the original, both will remain well stocked on my shelf in the future.
